What is the big switch-off and what do I need to do?

The backbone of traditional telephony throughout the UK, ISDN and PSTN networks have been in place for over 100 years. But in 2015, BT announced that these technologies would be switched off by December 2025, with the process commencing in 2021. Once the deadline passes, ISDN and PSTN phone lines will no longer be operational. The response to switch-off is to use a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) telephone system (sometimes referred to as an IP telephone system). This runs your voice calls over the internet and offers lots of functionality and economic advantages.
